Coal exploration potential in Xinjiang is huge

Proved reserves accounted for 5.3% of forecast
The academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences came to Xinjiang a few days ago to carry out an expert seminar on the comprehensive development and utilization of coal and CBM in Xinjiang and the construction of an integrated energy base, and to unveil the prelude to the investigation in Xinjiang to provide suggestions for the construction of a coal-based coal and chemical industry base in Xinjiang. Experts believe that resource exploration is the basis for the development of the coal industry. Xinjiang needs to increase the exploration of coal resources.
Xinjiang's coal resources account for a quarter of the country's total, but due to the lagging exploration progress, resource utilization is very low. How to transform Xinjiang’s resource advantages into economic advantages is a common concern of experts and the autonomous region’s government.
At present, Xinjiang has planned four coal-fired coal chemical industry bases in Zhundong, Yili, Hami and Kubai. Among them, Zhundong and Yili have been the focus of development. Shenhua Group, Lu'an Group, Luneng Group, Xinwen Group, etc. have been introduced. The domestic large-scale coal-fired power group has developed coal power, coal chemical, and coal-to-oil projects.
Wu Jiachun, deputy director of the Xinjiang Coal Industry Administration, said that the current problems faced by Xinjiang's coal industry are mainly due to the fact that Xinjiang's proven coal reserves only account for 5.3% of the predicted reserves, and that exploration efforts need to be stepped up; coal development methods are backward, and the recovery rate is only 30%. In addition, the product surcharges are low, and there are serious faults in coal mines.
The “Several Opinions of the State Council on Further Promoting Economic and Social Development in Xinjiang” (ie State Council Circular No. 32) positioned Xinjiang as a strategic base for energy and resources. The government of the autonomous region hopes to vigorously develop the coal and electricity coal chemical industry in the region in accordance with the statement in Circular 32. . In the past two years, as Xinjiang has continuously introduced large-scale domestic coal enterprises into the autonomous region to carry out resource exploration and development, the related capital investment has been greatly increased, which has provided guarantee for the further development of Xinjiang's coal industry.
According to Pu Shizhao, a senior engineer of PetroChina Xinjiang Oilfield Company, the development of coalbed methane is given priority and development is given priority. He stated that the threshold for CBM development technology is not high, and the key is the large capital investment and long development cycle. According to data from Europe and the United States, CBM has reached the peak of its output value in the tenth year, and India’s data shows that it can reach its peak value in the fourth year.
