Great Wall Automotive and Bosch & BorgWarner Deepen Technical Cooperation Together

According to information released by the Great Wall Motors official website, Great Wall Motors recently signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement with Bosch, Germany and BorgWarner, USA. According to the agreement, Great Wall Motors will seek extensive technical cooperation and research and innovation with the two companies on the basis of past products. Wei Jianjun, chairman of Great Wall Motors, signed the cooperation agreement with Chen Yudong, president of Bosch China Investment Co., Ltd., and CEO of BOG Warner, CEOTim Manganello.

On September 26th, in a contract with Germany's Bosch, the two parties reached an agreement on the in-depth research and development cooperation between the engine management system and chassis brakes. Wei Jianjun said: “Before, we have carried out extensive cooperation on product support and core power R&D. In the future, we will continue to deepen cooperation with each other, focusing on high efficiency and low emissions in engine research and development to cope with increasingly stringent vehicle fuel consumption and emissions. new standard."

Since 2005, Bosch's products have been widely supported in the three major categories of the Great Wall, and both parties have made repeated innovations in engine joint research and development. In 2006, the Great Wall and Bosch jointly developed an electronically controlled common-rail high-pressure diesel engine. This is the first time that domestic companies have used this technology to change the concept of “SUV oil tiger”. In May of this year, Fengjun 5 matched the green static 2.0T diesel power, adopted the Bosch common rail system, and its fuel-saving performance was greatly improved.

After signing a contract with Bosch for three days, Great Wall Motors has entered into a strategic alliance with BorgWarner, a world-leading supplier of transmission products. The two parties have established detailed specifications for the transmission of timing chain drive systems and intelligent torque managers. At the signing ceremony, Tim Manganello, chairman and CEO of the BorgWarner Board of Directors, said: “The New Deal on Energy-Efficient Vehicle Subsidies, which was launched on October 1st this year, puts higher requirements on the fuel economy of vehicles. BorgWarner focuses on leading powertrain technologies. We have unique advantages in improving fuel efficiency and reducing emissions. We will continue to provide the Great Wall with energy-efficient power transmission products to help them stand out in the market."

The cooperation between Great Wall Motors and BorgWarner also began in 2005. Initially, BorgWarner equipped electronically controlled four-wheel drive splitters for the Haval SUV and the Fengjun pickup truck. Recently, the turbocharger and transfer case used in the new Haval H5 model have been in volume production; at the end of the year, the intelligent torque manager supporting the Haval H6 will also be mass-produced.

When talking about the main reasons for the strategic cooperation between Great Wall and Bosch and BorgWarner, Wei Jianjun said: “Although the three companies have different main businesses, the common pursuit of corporate strategy and product quality has prompted us to make rapid progress and strive to innovate. Bosch's leading position in engine management systems, and the advanced technology of BorgWarner's global power transmission and intelligent drive systems will inevitably enhance Great Wall's automotive product technology level. This is in line with our current implementation of high-tech equipment and high performance. The design is a support, and the 'three high strategies' for creating high-quality products coincide."

In the process of continuously absorbing advanced technologies from abroad and innovating, Great Wall Motors has made major breakthroughs in developing its own brand of engines: Recently, the Great Wall 1.5T turbocharged engine independently developed by Great Wall Automotive Power Research Institute has been successfully mass-produced. The Tengyi C50 has already taken the initiative to carry this power and the full application is just around the corner. According to the mass production plan, it is planned to produce and sell 8,000 units in 2011. By 2016, it will achieve a total production and sales of 1.2 million units. After reaching production and operation, annual sales revenue will reach 2.8 billion yuan.

It is understood that the Great Wall 1.5T turbocharged engine is not only the first domestic 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, but also the first domestic aluminum alloy cylinder booster gasoline engine. Because of its use of aluminum alloy in the cylinder block, cylinder head and intake manifold, the cylinder head cover is made of plastic material, which reduces the weight of the entire machine by 20%, and reduces the fuel consumption of the entire vehicle by 16%. The engine power is increased. At 25.6%, the torque is increased by 36.2%, and the power and torque of the 1.8-liter engine can be easily achieved, enabling better power performance and fuel economy.
