House fire in South Barrington, 12-3-23

BCFPD received a call about a fully involved fire in an attached garage on the 0-100 block of Liberty Drive in South Barrington. Upon arrival, firefighters found a single-family home with a garage fully engulfed and flames spreading into the kitchen. The incident was immediately classified as a Code 4 working fire, indicating a high level of urgency and resource needs.

Fire crews launched an aggressive attack using both interior and exterior water lines to control the blaze. Due to the intensity of the fire, a MABAS box alarm was called in to bring in additional support. A tender shuttle operation was quickly set up to ensure a steady water supply, and within 30 minutes, the system was delivering 1,000 gallons per minute.

The fire remained contained to the initial area of origin, though heavy smoke and water damage were reported throughout the structure. Salvage operations began as the situation stabilized. Fortunately, all occupants escaped safely without serious injuries and were checked by paramedics on scene. No firefighters were injured during the response.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Local residents are advised to stay alert and report any suspicious activity. This incident highlights the importance of early detection and quick emergency response.
