House fire in South Barrington, 12-3-23

Here's an excerpt from a post by the Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District on Facebook:

BCFPD was called to the 0-100 block of Liberty Drive in South Barrington after reports of a fully involved fire in an attached garage. Upon arrival, firefighters found a single-family home with a garage fully engulfed in flames, and the fire had already spread into the kitchen. The situation was immediately escalated to a Code 4 working fire response.
Fire crews launched an aggressive attack using both interior and exterior water lines to contain the blaze. Due to the intensity of the fire and the high demand for water and personnel, a MABAS box alarm was activated to bring in additional resources.
A tender shuttle operation was quickly set up to ensure a steady water supply, and within just 30 minutes, the system was able to maintain a flow of 1,000 gallons per minute. Despite the heavy smoke and significant water damage throughout the structure, the fire remained confined to the original area of origin.
Once the fire was under control, salvage operations began as the incident was being brought down. Fortunately, all occupants safely evacuated without serious injuries and were assessed by emergency medical services on the scene. No firefighters were injured during the response.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and officials are working closely with local authorities to determine what led to the incident.

Gasketed Heat Exchanger

Gasket plate heat exchanger is made of many stamped corrugated sheets at a certain interval, sealed around by gaskets, and superimposed by the frame and compression spiral. The four corner holes of the plate and gasket form a fluid distribution tube and a collection tube, and at the same time reasonably separate the hot and cold fluids, so that they flow in the flow channel on both sides of each plate, and carry out heat exchange through the plate.

A gasketed plate heat exchanger is a type of heat exchanger that consists of a series of corrugated metal plates sealed together with gaskets. The plates are typically made of stainless steel or other materials with good heat transfer properties. The gaskets, usually made of elastomer or other compatible materials, create a seal between the plates and ensure that the fluids remain separate.

Benefits
•High energy efficiency – low operating cost
•Flexible configuration – heat transfer area can be modified
•Easy to install – compact design
•High serviceability – easy to open for inspection and cleaning and easy to clean by CIP

Features
•Gaskets and Sealing
•Counter-Current Flow
•Flexibility and Modularity
