As the ship is an old ship reconstruction project, the original box-shaped cargo ship is transformed into a scientific research ship. The scientific research ship needs to carry out scientific observation work at a low speed of 0-6 knots. The original fixed pitch can not meet the operation demand, and the shipowner needs The adjustable paddle is modified to meet the working conditions. Because the ship adopts the old four-cylinder low-speed machine to directly drive the propeller, the shaft span is short, there is no gear box and high elastic, and the system has large torsional vibration stress, which brings unprecedented difficulty to design and transformation. The ship was refitted by a domestic adjustable paddle manufacturer in 2011, but it ended in failure due to the torsional vibration stress not meeting the permit specifications of the classification society.
The modified design of NGC Marine Company technicians draws on the experience of all aspects at home and abroad, and concentrates on organizing the superior forces to carry out hard work. Firstly, the oil-filled shaft structure has been innovated to improve the allowable stress of the oil-filled shaft. Secondly, the latest design concept of foreign countries is adopted in the shafting arrangement, and the optimization design is continuously carried out, using the middle of the five-blade paddle and the large specific pressure. The bearing housing solves the problem of shafting vibration caused by the four-cylinder low-speed main engine. In order to be reliable, the DNV Classification Society Technical Center was invited to assist in the calculation. Through calculation, DNV believes that NGC marine company's design scheme has no problem with torsional vibration, but only needs to set the speed prohibition zone within the corresponding speed range. In addition, in order to further increase the reliability of the solution and make the solution foolproof, at the request of CCS Classification Society, NGC Marine Company invited the crankshaft experts of European MAN Company to calculate and evaluate the torsional vibration stress of the crankshaft. MAN's crankshaft experts are completely affirmed. The calculation of the relevant crankshaft torsional vibration stress is considered to fully satisfy MAN's standard for crankshaft torsional vibration stress. At present, the drawings and related calculations of the scheme have been approved by CCS Classification Society.
After carefully listening to the report of NGC Marine Company, the expert group had a full exchange and discussion with the design team of NGC Marine Company on some technical details of the design. The experts fully affirmed the hard work and innovations made by the technical team of NGC Marine Company for the modification design of the main push system. It is believed that the program is also audited by experts of DNV and MAN, and the complete set of drawings and calculations have been approved by CCS. As long as some details discussed at the meeting are further implemented, they have already entered the specific implementation conditions.
