A new fire department has joined the ranks in MABAS Division 19. The Palos Fire Protection District, based in Palos Park with two stations, boasts a roster of 41 personnel, of which 12 are part-time members. This dedicated team is tasked with protecting a 15-square-mile area that encompasses Palos Park, portions of Palos Heights, Orland Park, and unincorporated Palos Township. Their firefighting arsenal includes three E-ONE fire engines and a towering 110-foot E-ONE quint. In addition to their firefighting capabilities, they operate Road Rescue ambulances, along with a brush rig and an elliptical tanker from 4-Guys. Station 2, located at 13010 S. 104th Avenue in Palos Park, houses not only these impressive vehicles but also the newly introduced Haz Mat unit, which is a collaborative effort between MABAS Divisions 19 and 22.
