Emission standard upgrade accelerates Bosch's expansion of energy prices in response to competition

1. Threaded Hole Parameter Design

Thread machining is one of the most common processes in manufacturing. Threaded connections are also widely used in engineering drawings. When designing, engineers often have to search for and draw thread patterns repeatedly, which significantly slows down the design process. SolidWorks' Hole Wizard is a powerful tool designed specifically for creating various types of holes. It allows for parametric design of each hole and automatically generates detailed drawings, saving valuable time for engineers.

1.1 First, we start by drawing a flat plate to prepare for the parametric design of the next threaded hole.

1.2 Using the Hole Wizard Tool in SolidWorks to Drill the Plate

(1) Create a positioning sketch on the surface to be drilled, making it easier to position the hole during the drilling process.

(2) Click the Hole Wizard icon, select the type and size of the hole, and place the threaded hole according to the positioning sketch. We chose to drill an M10 threaded hole with a depth of 20 mm and a thread depth of 15 mm, as shown in the image below.

Figure 1

Figure 2

From Figure 2, we can clearly see that the 3D model created using the Hole Wizard tool displays both the major and minor diameters of the thread in the 2D drawing, which fully complies with our national drawing standards.

2. Parametric Design of Thread Pairs

2.1 First, we use the standard parts library in SolidWorks to retrieve a screw and use it to create a threaded pair with a plate that has already been drilled with a threaded hole.

2.2 Next, we assemble the flat part, the screw, and the connecting plate into an assembly, save it, and transfer it to a 2D drawing. However, we noticed an issue—please refer to the image below.

We found that the assembly drawing did not include the standard thread representation lines, making it unclear that this was a threaded connection. This resulted in an inaccurate drawing. To solve this issue, we can use the "Insert Selection Model Item" tool.

After confirming the changes, we observed that the assembly drawing now correctly reflects the structure of the threaded pair.

Summary: The use of SolidWorks for parametric design of threaded pairs allows for easy modifications at any time, simplifying the design process, speeding up development, and improving overall efficiency. This approach is highly recommended for engineers looking to optimize their workflow and ensure accuracy in their designs.
