Excerpts from ABC7Chicago.com:

Divers and sonar technicians were searching for a 9-year-old boy in Bangs Lake on Friday night. Wauconda police received a call around 7:20 p.m. about a water rescue at Lakeview Villa Beach. Two boys, aged 10 and 9, had been in a paddleboat when they fell into the water and began screaming for help. A group of nearby fishermen managed to pull the 10-year-old out before emergency responders arrived.

As of 9:45 p.m., rescuers were still looking for the 9-year-old. Authorities said strong winds and rough waters had pushed the boy toward the center of the lake. Fire officials reported that 15 divers, along with sonar teams from Wauconda and neighboring departments, continued the search throughout the night.

The 10-year-old boy was not seriously injured, and crews planned to keep searching until midnight. The community has been deeply affected by this tragic event, and many are expressing their support for the family involved.
