Dive box in Wauconda, 4-19-19
This message is from Tyler Tobolt: On Friday night, divers and sonar technicians were searching for a 9-year-old boy in Bangs Lake, Wauconda. The Wauconda Police Department was called to Lakeview Villa Beach around 7:20 p.m. after two boys, aged 10 and 9, got into trouble while paddling on the lake. They both fell into the water and shouted for help. A group of nearby fishermen managed to pull the 10-year-old out before emergency responders arrived. By 9:45 p.m., rescuers were still searching for the 9-year-old. Authorities said strong winds and rough waters had pushed him toward the center of the lake. Fire officials confirmed that 15 divers, along with sonar teams from Wauconda and neighboring departments, were continuing the search. They planned to keep looking until midnight, as the boy was still unaccounted for. The 10-year-old was reported to have no life-threatening injuries. The search efforts were expected to continue throughout the night, with crews working under challenging conditions. The community has been rallying together, and many are expressing their support and concern for the family involved. As the search continues, it's clear that the efforts of the first responders are nothing short of heroic. We hope for a positive outcome, even though the situation remains very serious.
