Hillside Fire Department update

The Hillside Fire Department in MABAS Division 20 was recently added to the site, with photos provided by Bill Friedrich. However, the original image of the fire station didn’t accurately represent the current structure, as a second floor had been added several years ago. Fortunately, Ryan Wyckoff stepped in and updated the photo, which has now been successfully uploaded to the site.
Hillside Fire Station

This is the latest photo of the station, showing the second floor partially hidden behind a large, mature tree. The building features two bays in the front and two on the side. Both ambulances access the station through the side doors, while the squad, truck, and both engines use the front entrance. A brand new Pierce Velocity quint can be seen next to the 2008 Pierce Puc engine. Photo by Ryan Wyckoff.

Hillside Fire Station

This image, taken around 1985, shows the station before the second floor was added. At that time, there was only a small sapling where the large tree now stands. The station did not have the side bays, and the apparatus visible includes a 1985 Grumman AerialCat and a 1975 American LaFrance pumper. This photo comes from the Bill Friedrich collection.

These updates provide a clearer picture of how the station has evolved over time, highlighting both its past and present layout. It’s always great to see historical and modern perspectives come together to tell a more complete story.
