However, the output of domestic cassava starch is only about 1 million tons, which can not meet the needs of the development of the industry. The import of cassava starch in China every year The volume has exceeded 1 million tons. The reason why Guangxi has become the fastest growing area of ​​domestic cassava ethanol is because of its rich cassava resources. As the country's largest cassava starch and cassava alcohol production base, Guangxi boasts about 70% of the country's total cultivated area and production. However, the demand for fresh cassava and tapioca starch by the ethanol companies in the region has exceeded the local production, and it needs to be imported. For example, Guangxi Mingyang Biochemical Group is currently the largest domestic producer of cassava modified starch. The company is working hard to build a large-scale international group company that annually produces 300,000 tons of modified starch and 300,000 tons of alcohol; COFCO invested a large sum of money in Guangxi. Beihai Construction uses cassava as raw material to produce fuel ethanol. The original intention of the Fengxiang Alcohol Factory in Pingxiang, Guangxi is to make full use of the rich resources of cassava in Vietnam. The annual demand for cassava is about 140,000 tons. In addition to large enterprises, many similar small and medium-sized enterprises in Guangxi also need a large amount of cassava raw materials, even in the cassava cultivation county in Guangxi Wuming, a number of cassava processing companies also need to import cassava. In 32 provinces in south-central Vietnam, fresh cassava is available for an average of 10 months throughout the year, and it is of good quality and can be processed in various depths. However, there is currently only one medium-sized ethanol processing company in Vietnam. Most of the cassava processing plants are outdated, the technology is backward, the energy consumption is high, and the waste pollution is serious. It is in urgent need of upgrading. Guangxi in China has a good foundation in the cultivation and processing of cassava. The development of cooperation with the cassava starch industry in ASEAN countries such as Vietnam has comparative advantages. At the 2011 China-Vietnam Starch Alcohol Industry Supply and Demand Business Opportunities Forum and the two-way procurement matchmaking meeting, the participating experts suggested that Chinese companies should not only focus on cooperation with Vietnam and other ASEAN countries in the fields of raw materials, semi-finished products and finished products, but also cooperate in the field of planting. Through direct investment or indirect investment, cooperation with the above-mentioned ASEAN countries to expand cassava planting area, in order to broaden the source of cassava raw materials. Only in this way can we fundamentally solve the problem of insufficient supply of cassava and rising prices.
