New Lenox FPD news

From the New Lenox Fire Protection District's Facebook page:

A serious incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when a pickup truck veered off Route 30 and crashed into two fire department vehicles on district property. The collision caused extensive damage to the two vehicles, which were used by the Fire and Life Safety Division.

The damaged vehicles were a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban and a 2006 Ford Expedition. The crash took place just after 1 p.m. at Station 1, located at 261 E. Maple Street. One individual was taken to a local hospital, though no firefighters were injured in the accident.

"We are extremely grateful that no one suffered serious injuries," said Chief Steve Engledow. "While the vehicles can be replaced, it's always concerning to see such damage happen on our premises."

Although the building itself sustained no major damage, there was some impact on the landscaping and exterior lighting. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash.
