McHenry Township Fire District news
This message is from Michael Maida: I had the opportunity to attend the grand opening of McHenry Township Fire District Station 5. The new station is equipped with a fire engine, ambulance, brush truck, and two trailers. The engine is a 2009 Pierce model, and there will be five firefighters/paramedics on duty at any given time. I was lucky enough to witness the flag-raising ceremony and watch the fire engine back into the station. One unique feature of this station is that when they receive a call, red LED light strips in the ceiling will illuminate for 90 seconds, creating a clear visual signal for the crew. During the open house, Engine 42 was also present, and I managed to stop by Station 1 to take a photo of the new Ambulance 51. It’s always exciting to see the new equipment and meet the dedicated personnel who serve the community. I was told that the department receives around 5,000 calls annually, with about 80% of them being emergency medical service requests. It's impressive to see how busy and essential their work is in the community.
