McHenry Township Fire District news

I had the chance to attend the grand opening of McHenry Township Fire District Station 5. The new station is equipped with a fire engine, ambulance, brush truck, and two trailers. The engine is a 2009 Pierce model, and there will be five firefighters/paramedics on duty at any given time. I was lucky enough to witness the flag-raising ceremony and watch the engine being backed into the station. One unique feature of this station is that when they receive a call, red LED light strips in the ceiling will illuminate for 90 seconds, adding a nice visual touch.

Engine 42 was also present at the open house, and I stopped by Station 1 to take a photo of the new Ambulance 51. It's always exciting to see the equipment up close and get a glimpse of how the department operates.

While I was at the open house, Engine 42 responded to an EMS call. I was told that the department handles around 5,000 calls per year, with 80% of them being emergency medical services. It’s impressive to see how busy they are and how quickly they respond to emergencies.
