Large-scale installation of industrial hazardous waste incineration in Shanghai

The largest industrial hazardous waste incineration facility in China, located in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park, officially commenced operations on the 18th. This state-of-the-art plant is primarily designed to provide specialized hazardous waste treatment services to chemical companies within the park and other industrial enterprises across Shanghai. Operated by Taiko Shengda Waste Treatment Company, a joint venture between the French environmental leader Suez Group, Shanghai Chemical Industry Park, and New World Development Corporation, the facility represents a significant investment of 53 million euros. As the sole entity in Shanghai authorized by the State Environmental Protection Administration to handle hazardous waste, the company plays a crucial role in ensuring safe and environmentally responsible waste management. With an annual processing capacity of 60,000 tons, the incinerator is equipped to manage a wide range of hazardous materials, including contaminated oils, chemical sludge, waste solvents, and wastewater. The facility meets stringent European Union emission standards, significantly reducing environmental impact. In addition to incineration, the plant also focuses on waste regeneration and recycling, promoting a more sustainable approach to industrial waste management. Currently, the facility serves major international industrial giants such as BASF, Bayer, and Degussa. With growing demand for its services, the plant is projected to generate annual revenue of up to 20 million euros, highlighting its importance in both the local and global environmental technology landscape. This project not only strengthens Shanghai’s position as a hub for green industry but also sets a new benchmark for waste treatment in China.
