Large-scale installation of industrial hazardous waste incineration in Shanghai

Shanghai's largest industrial hazardous waste incineration facility, located within the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park, officially commenced operations on the 18th. This state-of-the-art plant is primarily designed to offer specialized hazardous waste treatment services to chemical enterprises within the park and other industrial companies across Shanghai. The facility is managed by Taiko Shengda Waste Treatment Company, a joint venture established by the French environmental giant Suez Group, Shanghai Chemical Industry Park, and New World Development Corporation. With a total investment of 53 million euros, the company has become the sole entity in Shanghai authorized by the State Environmental Protection Administration to handle hazardous waste. This certification underscores its commitment to environmental safety and regulatory compliance. The incineration plant has an annual processing capacity of 60,000 tons and is equipped to manage a wide range of hazardous materials, including contaminated oils, chemical sludges, solvent wastes, and sewage. Its advanced technology ensures that emissions meet stringent EU environmental standards, significantly reducing pollution. In addition, the facility emphasizes waste regeneration and recycling, promoting a more sustainable approach to waste management. Currently, the plant serves major global industrial players such as BASF, Bayer, and Degussa. The project is expected to generate annual sales revenue of up to 20 million euros, reflecting its strong market demand and operational efficiency. As industries continue to prioritize environmental responsibility, this facility stands as a key player in advancing green practices within the region.
