Chongqing, as the largest production hub for mini vehicles in China and a key manufacturing center for passenger and commercial vehicles, is leveraging Chongqing Dajiang Industry (Group) Co., Ltd. to establish a specialized vehicle production base. The company aims to significantly expand its presence in the special vehicle market, with projections indicating that by 2010, both production and sales of these vehicles will reach 3,500 units annually. Dajiang and Changan Automobile Group are both subsidiaries of the China Ordnance Equipment Group Corporation, one of the country's leading state-owned enterprises. This group was formed by consolidating nine third-line military industrial facilities into Chongqing's main urban area, allowing it to produce both military and civilian products. The company has a long-standing history in defense manufacturing, but is now increasingly focusing on the commercial sector. Yang Chuan, the general manager of Dajiang Group, recently emphasized that starting from next year, the company will intensify its efforts in the special vehicle market. This strategic shift reflects a broader trend in the industry, where traditional defense contractors are diversifying their product lines to meet growing demand in the civilian sector. With the right investments and market positioning, Dajiang is well-positioned to become a major player in the special vehicle industry, contributing to Chongqing’s evolving automotive landscape.
