EdgeCAM's new CAM supports cutter heads and workbenches with spindles

EdgeCAM has released a major update to its 3D CAM software, now known as **EdgeCAM 12.00.2**. This new version introduces enhanced support for machines equipped with rotary heads and tables, enabling simultaneous 5-axis machining and multi-face processing on an expanded range of equipment. Users can now choose between the tool’s front end or the shaft tip as the center of rotation during transposition, offering greater flexibility and precision in complex operations. To streamline and standardize feature-based processing in Solid mode, EdgeCAM has integrated a flowchart-based automation system. This enhancement significantly improves the functionality of the **Policy Management** module. The latest release allows multiple flowchart files to be used as subroutines, increasing efficiency and reusability. Additionally, users can now protect their flowcharts with passwords, enhancing data security and control. The tool and cutting condition database has been upgraded to use SQL, making it easier to manage and access data online. Performance improvements have also been made, particularly in contour and roughing operations on vertical walls, where calculation times are now reduced when working with wireframe and 2D features. The software is now compatible with **Windows Vista**, including the Ultimate, Business, and Enterprise editions, ensuring broader system support. Another key feature in this release is the ability to identify planes and R-surfaces (such as cylinders and cones) during roughing cycles. This function automatically generates line or arc toolpaths based on detected surfaces, improving path accuracy and reducing the number of approximation points. As a result, the overall NC data size is minimized, leading to more efficient post-processing and smoother machine performance. In addition, the company’s sales partner, **Design & Solution**, will be showcasing EdgeCAM 12.00.2 at the **INTERMOLD 2008 (Information Technology Exhibition)**, held from April 17 to 20, 2008, at Intex Osaka. This event offers a great opportunity for industry professionals to see the latest advancements in 3D CAM technology firsthand. Whether you're looking to optimize your machining processes or explore new capabilities, EdgeCAM 12.00.2 delivers powerful tools to meet modern manufacturing demands.
