Toronto plans to achieve LED energy-saving lighting city for 10 years

Located on the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario, Toronto is Canada's largest city with a relatively large city. It is one of the most diverse cities in the world, and its rich ethnic characteristics make the city colorful and beautiful. Toronto ranks second in the ranking of the world's top ten smart cities. The Toronto level is the best in the construction of smart cities in North America, and the results in all aspects are not bad. In practice, Toronto recognizes the importance of smart cities and, in some ways, energy-efficient lighting is doing very well.
As early as 2007, the Toronto Business Development Promotion Association announced that the city of Toronto will install LED lighting fixtures on urban infrastructure. It also became the second city in North America to join the initiative to build LED energy-efficient lighting cities in Raleigh, North Carolina.
The LED Energy-Efficient Lighting City initiative was initiated by Raleigh, North Carolina, USA and Cree to promote collaboration between municipalities to implement energy-efficient lighting activities. Cree's Greg Merritt commented on the LED city in Toronto, which he believes is a smart move for Toronto. At the same time, he predicted that in the near future, LEDs will replace traditional lighting devices in a wider range. Toronto's deputy mayor Joe Pantalone also holds a similar view. He believes that the use of LED lighting is undoubtedly the first choice for urban energy conservation and environmental protection construction.
The City of Toronto is expected to complete the urban LED lighting renovation in ten years to achieve the goal of energy saving 50. Compared with traditional lighting facilities, LED lighting has many advantages such as low power consumption, long life, low use and maintenance costs, and low greenhouse gas emissions.
At present, the city of Toronto has been piloting LED lighting projects intensively, and the scope of promotion and use of LEDs has also been greatly expanded. From the replacement of separate holiday lighting installations to retail displays and streetlight installations, other ongoing or planned LED projects include: solar-powered LED lights for parks and LED lights for public parking lots. In order to save electricity, while maintaining the night scene, reduce the pollution of the city, LED lighting replaces the neon light tube. The City of Toronto strongly supports LED lighting projects, whether it is financial, material or human resources. Pantalone has repeatedly visited the pilot project and pointed out that it is necessary to vigorously promote LED lighting projects and accelerate urban energy conservation and environmental protection.
Building a city of LED energy-efficient lighting will save Toronto millions of dollars in energy costs. Greenhouse gas emissions will also be reduced by 18,000 tons.
