Springfield FD adding small squads

The Springfield Fire Department recently placed an order with Alexis for two compact squad vehicles mounted on Ford F-550 chassis. These smaller units are designed to support ambulances and help minimize wear and tear on the department's larger firefighting equipment. According to an article published by the StateJournal Register, the initiative aims to enhance the efficiency of their operations. Here are some key points from the piece: The Springfield Fire Department intends to integrate these smaller rescue vehicles into their fleet this year, primarily to address medical emergencies. Fire Chief Ken Fustin explained that these squads will not only extend the lifespan of their costly fire engines but also improve response times for medical-related calls. Approximately 60% of their total calls are related to medical situations. During last year's budget discussions, aldermen approved the acquisition of two such rescue vehicles. The department sourced two 2012 Ford F550 chassis from Landmark Ford and entrusted Alexis Fire Equipment with customizing the rescue bodies. Alexis provided the lowest bid for this project, resulting in a total expenditure of $200,822. Fustin has also proposed allocating $125,000 in next year’s budget for an additional vehicle, aiming to have all three units operational by the end of December. With these smaller squads in place, the fire trucks and engines will reportedly handle around 4,000 to 5,000 fewer calls annually. In 2011, the department received a total of 16,431 service requests, out of which approximately 9,527 were medical-related calls, accounting for nearly 58%. Attached is an image showing one of the custom-built rescue bodies being constructed by Alexis for the Springfield Fire Department. As you can see, these vehicles are being meticulously crafted to meet the specific needs of the department. VW AUDI VVT SOLENOID

Variable valve timing (VVT) solenoid or oil control valve controls the oil flow according to the engine speed and load. VVT solenoid is a vital part of the variable valve timing system.
The Oil Control Valve (OCV) is a a critical part used in every engine that is fitted with variable valve technology (VVT). A single control valve will regulate the supply of oil to a designated VVT hub, to advance or retard the timing by altering the camshaft angle position. Controlled by the ECU, the OCV receives electrical signals, instructing it to adjust the oil flow as required, in accordance to current driving conditions.
